Adventure #127: Grissini

Today's my birthday. My sister's family is in town and they took the girls to Ocean Park, giving G and I some alone time.  So we decided to have a leisurely Sunday brunch to celebrate this day.

When the older on was little, we used to eat Sunday Brunch at Grissini quite often.  Back then they used to serve very delicious boiled crab legs.  Cannot remember why we stopped going.

For nostalgic reasons - birthdays do that to you - we decided to go back today.

The ever delicious grissinis.
A glass of bubbly each to celebrate my birthday.

They don't serve boiled crab legs anymore, instead they now have braised lobsters.  So, as expected, this was the most popular dish of the day, permanent queue for it.
We were back 3 times for the lobsters! The lobster sauce (in  soup bowl) was great with the grissinis.
Desserts were great too, especially the green tea macarons!

The buffet selection good, so was the quality. A bit expensive for kids but a nice quiet venue for brunch.

Adventure #126: Paul's Kitchen

Wandered over to Central, wanting to have the tomato macaroni at 勝香園 but there was already a queue there when we arrived. Didn't want to waste time waiting, so we wandered off and walked past Paul's Kitchen.  Paul's Kitchen is a Western restaurant, so we were a little surprise to see that it was offering Malaysian cuisine for lunch.

For lunch, Paul's Kitchen launched Paul's Kitchen featuring Teck, serving Malaysian set lunches.

The set started with a simple yet delicious although not Malaysian salad with vinaigrette dressing.

The nasi lemak was almost as good as home. Not enough sambal though, had to ask for more.

The fried kway teow was OK but I think the dish was constrained by its main ingredient - the kway teow was not smooth like those we have at home.

An interesting dessert - pandan flavoured sponge cake - to finish off the meal.

Food was OK. A possible destination for those home sick days.

Adventure #125: Happiness Seafood Restaurant

Today, Simon took us to 鯉魚門 for a seafood dinner.  We used to go to 鯉魚門 quite a bit when we first arrived. Have not been for over 10 years and thus didn't quite recognise the place when we got there. Seems like it is still a popular seafood destination as it took us a while to find a car park.  We went through a labyrinth of seafood stalls and restaurants before arriving at our destination, Happiness Seafood Restaurant.

Getting wine ready while we finalised our orders

Complimentary soup. Tasty.

Steamed prawns.  Salt water prawns, hence they appeared pale instead of red and juicy like the fresh water ones. But these were fresh and tasty.

Steamed scallops with minced garlic and 粉絲. Nice but I prefer the one at Ho Choi Restaurant.

聖子 on a bed of fried rice noodle.  Very interesting. Best dish of the night.

Steamed fish, some kind of . Nicely done.

Stir-fried crab with ginger and spring onion. Good.

Snails? Cooked in a very spicy sauce.  Eaten with a pick.  Definitely a kick.

Deep fried squid - too much flour and not crispy. Worst dish of the night.

Complimentary dessert

An interesting outing for seafood.  Definitely a place to bring visitors.
